Jerry Tolson for Sheriff: Offering Integrity and a Choice, Not Negativity

as read in The Free Lance-Star 09/30/07:

"A recent letter to the editor alleges that Sheriff Smith's re-election signs are missing and suggests that either I or members of my campaign staff are the culprits ["Sheriff Smith stays upbeat, even if signs come down," Sept. 20].

This outrageous allegation, presumably from an independent individual, is completely false. No election, or anything in life, for that matter is worth my integrity.

The writer accuses me of running a negative campaign. Again, untrue.

What I have done, and will continue to do, is offer the residents of Spotsylvania County a choice between the status quo and change. I offer new strategies, priorities, and solutions for public safety concerns.

I would think that committing myself to reversing escalating violent-crime rates, increasing dialogue with county residents, and improving neighborhood patrol, along with a commitment to diversity, is an optimistic campaign because it offers positive accomplishments to the county.

I guess it seems negative if one's on the other side of the issues."

Smith may have more signs than Tolson, but Tolson has more class and real law enforcement EXPERIENCE.

Has red light running on Route 3 been stopped? Has Gang activity in schools been stopped? Has grafitti stopped? Are Thefts down? NO to all!

Taking your deputies to the Moon Spa for massages and happy endings in the name of law enforcement for YEARS LONG 'investigation' isn't exactly protecting us from crime now is it?

What Smith's record has done is make Spotsylvania the LAUGHING STOCK of the NATION.

Tolson- you have my vote- for a change.

I already know what Smith won't do for me!!!

I have seen more EMPTY PARKED deputy cars on the side of the road as 'deterrents' than I have REAL deputies do REAL law enforcemnt.

How many deputies do we pay again?

Oh yeah- they are all out putting up Smith signs for their good ole buddy/boss.

Smith is not a good sheriff. If the pulic only knew what goes on behind closed doors... but nobody seems to be asking questions... people should ask more questions.

Jerry is the most down to earth Law Enforcement Officer I know aside from my uncle and father who are both retired police officers. I'm supporting Jerry because I'm a crime victim of 2 unsolved crimes in Spotsylvania County that remain unsolved and placed in file 13.
Certainly grand theft and a whole sub-division of vandalisms deserve more than a traffic ticket. Jerry has been here to my neighborhood 3 times to discuss it with neighbors and Howard has not been here once.

I gave Sheriff Smith my vote four years ago, even though I knew of integrity issues, this will not happen again.I'm sickened by decisions made by this office.I'm not willing to forget these actions.Experience, integrity, honesty, nice words, but just words.

I was stunned to recieve a Smith flyer trumpeting his role heading up the Lisk/Silva task force. It's not with "20/20 hindsight" that I point out that Smith's task force interviewed the murderer and then let him go -- regretable mistakes like that happen -- but when that was the only thing that Smith's task force accomplished, it concerns me that I'm asked to vote for Smith because the murders happened. But if I remember right, the Smith task force did bring an accused killer to trial for this death-penalty offense -- using evidence that "conclusively" proved the accused's guilt (if I remember right, fabrics from the accused's home found with the victims). This trial was still on-going, 6 years later, when the real killer was discovered with another kidnapped girl in South Carolina. A second test of the evidence in the Spotsylvania court was performed, and "surprise" -- this time it conclusively proved that the accused Spotsylvania man fighting for his life in court actually was innocent. This isn't really a referendum on Smith -- it's a referendum on my neighbors who are still thinking of voting for him.

If someone happens to read this , since its been like 4 months since the election. I just wanted to let you guys know we are all thankful for your support. We may have lost and Tolson may have lost his dream but we all know he will stay true and still help our community!

The Spotsylvania County Police Department are the most ethnically biased department that I experienced. Some ot their Deputies lack honesty and intigrity as well.
They treat people from the Middle East with hate and intimidations.
They go after anyone who looks dark or hispanic.
Some of their Deputies invaded different ethnic people's homes based on a false reports that they had received from KKK members.
God Help You all...
