The Virginia Beach Taxpayer Alliance (VBTA) in an unanimous vote today, endorsed James City businessman Paul Jost for the vacant 1st Congressional District seat.

VBTA 's Chairman, John Moss, said that Paul Jost's association with limited-taxation groups in the region and state helped efforts to reduce the financial impacts of higher taxes on Virginia families. The defeat of the 2002 referendum calling for the highest tax increase in the history of Virginia is a part of the Jost portfolio of taxpayer protection victories recognized by the VBTA Board.

"Paul Jost's opposition to the unelected regional transportation authority and the excessive taxes and fees the authority will force on already financially-stressed families also was a major plus in our board's decision to endorse him," said VBTA Chairman Moss.

Moss went on to say that, "Paul, over the years has put his money where his mouth is by financially supporting initiatives designed to rein in the out-of-control growth of government and it's insatiable appetite for spending without regard to the taxpayer's ability to pay the taxes required."

The Virginia Beach Taxpayer Alliance is the region's premier limited-government, limited-taxation and protector of private property rights organization.
