Statement of Chairman Steve Thomas on tonight's "Green Incentives" vote

"This issue is a symptom of an economy-crippling tax burden driven by excess local spending. Since this credit was implemented, property taxes have risen 15% across the board, and for commercial properties the tax hike has been a whopping 93%.

Folks are desperate for tax relief. The last property tax cut in this county came in 1975. We are long overdue for broad-based tax relief that can be enjoyed by every Spotsylvania property owner."
