Campaign updates for the county- nominating processes

As you know, we have a lot of local and state office elections this year. To that end, I wanted to update you on a number of relevant items:
1. Senator Richard Stuart has selected a primary (held Aug 23) as his method of nomination. Those in the northwest part of the county now have him as your State Senator. If no challenger for the nomination, then no primary.
2. We have selected a Convention (July 16) as the nomination selection method for the 17th District, where Bryce Reeves is currently the only filed Republican candidate.
3. Bobby Orrock has selected a primary (August 23) as his method of nomination.
4. Mark Cole selected a canvass as his method of nomination.
5. John Cox has selected a primary (August 23) as his method of nomination.
6. Bill Janis (Belmont and Brokenburg precincts) selected a primary, held August 23.
7. Ryan McDougle selected a primary (held August 23). He will be the guest speaker at Monday's SRWC meeting, 7 pm at the Salem Church Library.
8. For Sheriff, Commissioner of Revenue, Treasurer, and Commonwealth's Attorney, as well as Supervisor of Chancellor, Salem, Courtland and Livingston, the party selected Mass Meeting (held July 9) as the method of nomination. If any offices have contested nomination fights, we will hold it at Spotsylvania HS; if not, one of the library branches.
9. The deadline to file for countywide offices as well as Supervisor (if you are seeking the GOP nomination) is June 15- coming up soon! No signatures are required for this.
10. If independents are running and seeking the GOP endorsement, they have until August 23 to file to run, though the GOP will be debating endorsements in our July regular meeting.
11. Redistricting in Spotsy is now complete. There are 10 new polling places, several new precincts, and a number of district boundry changes. To check out the new approved map, click HERE.
12. Delegate Cole will be holding a series of town hall meetings. The schedule is:
